Natalie and Jimmy are Married!

Natalie and Jimmy are Married!

Natalie and Jimmy Bunch are Married!

I always enjoy shooting weddings, but this one was epic. Today I got to shoot with my own Bride-to-be in the first of our many wedding adventures together. Yes, my fiancee, Jocelyn Edlin, is a pretty fabulous photographer in her own rite, and together, well... check it out!

Natalie and Jimmy, thanks for letting us be a part of your wedding day! We weren't expecting the rain and cold, but I'd like to think we got some amazing pictures anyway. I'm excited to see where God takes you (quite literally!) and what your lenses capture.

People often ask how I know the bride and/or groom at the weddings I shoot. This one has been one of my favorite stories to tell as Natalie and I met in Prague a year ago. Yeah, Prague... how cool is that?!?

Perhaps we shall meet again on the far side of the world! :-)

Rowan Gillson and Carl Larsen in Ethiopia

In the not so distant past I had the chance to travel to Ethiopia with my friends Carl and Angel to pick up their two boys. (Check out Angel's blog: http://lovedbeyondallmeasure.blogspot.com/ for the fabulous ongoing story of their adoption!) Check out my previous post on the topic: http://blog.rowangillson.com/2009/12/faces-of-ethiopia.html

Now I'm really excited to be planning a DSLR Video Workshop in Portland with Carl. It's going to be an awesome week to hang out with a great friend and share the wonders of outstanding video production. Wanna join us? Please do: http://prizewinningphotography.com/workshops/video

Oh yeah... the photo above? I was loosely hanging on to my camera while another Ethiopian adoptee snapped away! :-)

The Golden Pull

Last weekend I got to do a shoot for Golden Pull, a Saint Cloud band led by Johnny Weaver (far left below). We had a blast shooting in the cold wind of downtown Saint Cloud and got some sweet stuff for their upcoming album release!

DSLR Video Workshop

DSLR Video Workshop

No... I'm not the master, but I know who is! For years I've wanted to teach video workshops with IPS, but the pieces just weren't quite in place to make it happen. Then I met Carl Larsen. Carl loves Jesus Christ, his family, and is a fabulous video producer. He's worked with Desiring God ministries, Life Light, PULSE, and hosted a podcast at Creative Cow among other things. Now we have a video workshop.

Well... perhaps I should say July 5-9, 2010, we'll have a video workshop in Portland, OR. Want to do video? You want to be there... Tuition is $600, food and housing $300. All the details can be found at http://prizewinningphotography.com/workshops/video

Hope to see you there!

Dear World

Dear World

Dear World...

Suppose I gave you the opportunity to write a letter to the world. What would you say? Would you talk about yourself? Would you talk about your work? Would you talk about your God?

My friends at RevMedia gave the homeless youth population of Portland, OR the chance to talk, and now they have given us the ability to listen. Dear World, a collaboration of these letters is now available for digital download at http://dearworld.squarespace.com/. Don't miss the chance to hear from those we walk by each day.

Kudos to Christina, Laura, Jocelyn, Aaron, Whitney, Taylor, Caleb, Caitlin and Jake for giving us a glimpse into the reality of homelessness!
